Another Memorial Day Weekend has come and gone. I spent mine in Miami. It was hot. Literally...

You thought I was dark when I got back from Puerto Rico? I am African-Mandingo Black now... My peeps are calling me Oonfoofoo. But its all good. I love it when I get my tan on. This time I did it without getting burned. YAAAAAAAAYE ME! I just over did it in Puerto Rico, just chillin in the sun for hours at a time. In Miami, I didn't go into the sun without sunblock, and I kinda broke it up instead of just roasting for hours.

Now everyone thinks I am west indian. Ok... I have locks... but... Ummm... no. Not that there is anything wrong with being west indian, (big ups to my island peeps), but that is just not my heritage. I am african american. My grandparents were born in Connecticut on my mom's side. And my grandmother on my pops side is from Georgia. The only mix I have aside from massuh in my ancestors quarters(thats where I get the sunburn shyt from...lol) is my grandfather from the Dominican Republic on my pops side. But if you saw him, you would think he was just a regular brotha (til you heard the accent...lol) And my spanish is HORRIBLE. I's Negruh... plain and simple.

Anyway, Miami was a BLAAAAAST! I had so much fun. It was my first time in Miami... so I thought that everyone ran around South Beach in Brazilian squarecut trunks in Miami, so that is what I brought. Yo... that shyt is just in the commercials and on TV. Dudes wear board shorts. I mean, I actually saw brothas on the beach in TIMBS! Only international peeps wore these bathing suits... lol But who cares... I had fun anyway. And my squarecut tan lines are waaaaaaaay sexier than the ones I woulda gotten from boardshorts. Plus it was kinda cool. I felt like a psuedo celebrity when complete strangers were asking me to pose in pics with them. Guess the african mandingo look was working for me... lol

I even went to a nude beach... lol I didnt get naked though. Yes, I am a punk. Why is it that only the fat nasty white people want to frolick all free-to-be-you-and-me? It's always the saggy titties and wrinkley bums... It's never the sexy bodies you want to see in the birthday suits... Maybe if I wasnt such a punk, I woulda set it off... but... I am. So no Psun peepee sightings this weekend. (not in public anyways... hee hee)

Here are a few shots. I think my next trip will be Brazil... not sure when, just know that its on the list. And Dominican Republic... and hawaii... and Nigeria... and Australia... and ummm... I need to start saving.

La Isla Del Encanta

Well, since I wasn't down in Puerto Rico wylin' out... some of you may be wondering what the hell I did to occupy my time with so much available and easily accessible booty all over the place...

I enjoyed the island. I explored. I learned why Puerto Rico is called 'La Isla Del Encanta (the Island of Enchantment).' There are many things to do down there other than partake in the local and imported fruits...

I visited Old San Juan, 'La Ciudad Amurallada' (the walled city), which is the second oldest city in the Americas, and the oldest city under the US Flag. The 465 year old ex-military establishment is absolutely beautiful, complete with two old forts, cobblestone streets, 400 restored 16th and 17th century Spanish colonial style buildings, multiple plazas with statues and artwork through out the streets, mixed with an eclectic combination of shops, galleries and and historic locations. Its easy to see why San Juan is the most popular tourist spot in all of the Carribean.

I know you guys like posts that are short and to the point... but if pictures are worth a thousand words, this is bout to be a lengthy entry... I was blown away by the scenery, and the views.

This trip was a significant experience to me. I was exposed to many things and people that may influence how I look at things from here on out. It's hard to explain it in a sentence or two, but being surrounded by such beauty and history can't help but make you a bit reflective. I did a great deal of thinking and evaluating of my current situation, relative to love and life... my goals, and plans. While there was a great deal of partying that took place, the was also some productive time that helped me focus on what was important, what I truly value, and what my next steps are. 2005 is going to be a great year for me. Despite its rocky start, many wonderful things have happened, and many more are in the works.

I verbalized this to my friend and coworker, who noticed a different focus in me. After our conversation, maybe an hour later... a note dropped into my cube out of the air, out of nowhere... it read:

"The world is yours. All you have to do is just take it. - God"

Granted it was from my coworker being silly, tossing it over our adjoining cubes, but the sentiment is real. We can accomplish anything we want. Everything is within our grasp, all we have to do is take it.

So that is what my trip to Puerto Rico ended up being about. It was about escaping my busy life of full-time work, full-time MBA study, running my own business, my big brother mentoring, Junior Achievement Counseling and other community service commitments for a week, and focusing on the big picture of my own life. Sex is great, but it would have only clouded that picture. Sometimes you need to get away, and La Isla Del Encanta afforded me that tranquilty to get focused. Right now, my life is about getting my own situation firmly established, and accomplishing some goals.

So now I am back to the grind, getting my hustle on with new vigor and perspective. I am rejuvenated and ready to continue "the same thing I do every night, Pinky. TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!"
